Mobaderoon is a pioneering civic organisation, founded in 2009 by Abir Hajibrahim and Ghada Alrifai dedicated to “Building trust and understanding to support and sustain peaceful coexistence”.
Our mission is to foster a culture of values-based and participatory peacebuilding for Syrians and people living in conflict-affected areas. As a women-led organization, we are at the forefront of peacebuilding, grounded in human values and principles. We dedicate our efforts to reweaving the social fabric torn apart by years of war. Since our founding in 2009, we have served as a beacon of hope, reconciliation, and collective healing—firm in our belief that true peace begins with people and exists for their sake.
Today, as Syria enters a critical new phase, our vision is renewed and our mission sharpened: to actively contribute to national peacebuilding through community reconciliation, inclusive dialogue, and bold, authentic storytelling.
We believe that reconciliation is not merely a political file, but a profound societal experience—one that must be lived collectively and nurtured through meaningful human connection. That is why we work through safe spaces for courageous dialogue, trauma-sensitive facilitation, civic education, and ethical media practices.
Our Strategy
Our Strategy for 2024–2027 is Built on Four Foundational Pillars: Mobaderoon is the result fruit of a diverse knowledge gathered since 2009. Mobaderoon shares this knowledge throughout consultations and training programs, which responds to the capacity building needs on several levels. Including programs that support children and teenagers, programs that support youth and individual leaders, and programs that support initiative takers and social projects leaders. In Mobaderoon, we carry a social responsibility and work towards building trust and understanding to support and sustain peaceful coexistence. We believe that environmental responsibility is an integral part of this vision.
We do recognize the inextricable link between environmental protection and the pursuit of peace, as environmental degradation, climate change and resource scarcity can exacerbate tensions, fuel conflict, and undermine human security. These challenges also increase the vulnerability of human communities to environmental disasters, directly and enduringly affecting health, livelihood, and well-being. Conversely, responsible use of natural resources and adopting sustainable environmental practices not only promotes cooperation, mutual stability between communities, but also contributes to reducing environmental risks and improving quality of life for individuals.
Our commitment to peacebuilding also includes creating the conditions for sustainable and just communities. By promoting environmental stewardship, we aim to mitigate the risks posed by environmental challenges and promote cooperation in the common interest of protecting the planet’s finite resources.
The environmental challenges cause severe damage to communities, especially those torn apart by wars, and addressing this requires a common approach. In Mobaderoon, we recognize this as a collective action problem. In line with this understanding, we remain steadfast in our commitment to continuously and systematically improve our environmental performance. Through the progressive implementation of our environmental policy, we endeavor to collectively contribute to protecting our environment.

We drive change and encourage others to take the lead by providing support and equal opportunities for all. We work under joint responsibility with others to achieve positive change in our communities.
We bear the responsibility towards building a brave and dialogue-safe space, in a way that gathers diverse people, and also towards bringing issues that touch on the needs of Syrians with all their differences, connecting them to decision-makers.
Which is the most holistic, deepest, and most sustainable state, which points to defining and supporting structures, with the mission of instilling, activating, and enabling peace, so as not to be drawn into new conflicts, or recur old ones.
We work on spreading the culture of nonviolence, supporting nonviolent change mechanisms among all, and reflecting them in all activities as it is a primary cornerstone for building a common future that ensures justice and fairness for all.

Economic Citizenship Education Award 2017 From CYFI (Child And Youth Finance International) For Three Of Its Programs: Journey Of Values, Life Street And Active Citizenship.
The 2019 Facilitation Gold Award From IAF (International Association Of Facilitators) For Its Pioneering Use Of Facilitation In Its Programs For Creating A Positive Change.
