Peacebuilding initiatives have proven be to be successful in addressing the underlying causes of conflict and promoting sustainable peace.
Gender-based violence is both a cause and a consequence of conflict, disrupting social cohesion and undermining peacebuilding processes. This social phenomenon necessitates the intervention of effective GBV protection strategies for the purpose of ensuring gender equality and fostering a safe and inclusive society.
Civil society organizations also play a pivotal role in addressing the intersecting between GBV protection programs and peacebuilding by advocating for survivor rights, implementing prevention programs, and fostering community resilience.
The conflict has turned Syrian into a site for deeply disrupted societal structures, intensifying vulnerabilities, particularly among women and girls, and expanding incidents of gender-based violence.
